epiphanicity

hmmmmm?

been a month since I posted.

been reading John lately. going through it...bout half way through and I am renewing my interest in a previous discovery (a) and made a new one altogether (b)

a.) a previous journey through the book opened my eyes to how JEsus viewed his role in everything. Numerous numerous times he makes staements like, "It is not my will but the Fathers", "I have come to do the work of my Father", These are not my words, but the words of my father who sent me". COnstantly he is stating that his mission is one of appointment. That he views himself as a servant to his Father. (however he also states at one point "I and the Father are one"...and also "you do not know me or my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father also")

b.) I just recently noticed another pattern. "belief". It is a HUGE theme in John. About chapter 8 I really started to take notice of it...so I started going back and cricling them and makeing my own notes in the margins each time...then I started getting too many cross references to be practical. So I searched "believe" on my bible software and found that tehre are about twice as many uses of "belief"(believe, believers etc...) in the book of John as there are in the other 3 gospels combined! whoa! One of them being a personal favorite of mine for salvation studies "if you do not believe I am who I say that I am you will indeed die in your sins" or how about "the work of my Father is this...to believe in the one he has sent." they pretty much sum it all up don't you think!

well, those are my two posts for now.
